One of the largest renewable energy developments in the Budapest area

Bicske, one of the most popular settlements in the area, is also getting closer to providing carbon-neutral energy supply, thanks to the ongoing solar power plant development of the ASTRASUN Group. On the outskirts of the city, next to a stream-fed lake, a total of 29 power plants, with a capacity of 499 kWp each, are being built on an area of 32 hectares.

The complete fleet will generate a total of more than 22.1 million kWh of clean electricity a year, covering the electricity need of 5,000 households. In order to increase efficiency, most of the support structures of solar panels are equipped with a solar tracking system and only a small part is fixed.

Despite its large size, the solar park stretches almost unnoticed in the landscape, and the park located in the immediate vicinity of agricultural lands has already begun to be recaptured by nature. It is common experience - and this can only be confirmed by ASTRASUN, which has 40 proprietary solar power plants - that biodiversity in solar parks is increasing and the soil is regaining its former fertility due to natural fallowing. Under the solar panels, it is even up to 10 degrees cooler in the summer heat and the evaporation is much lower, so less sun-tolerant plants can also settle. The quiet operation of the system allows the wildlife of the area to live in peace in its vicinity and even in symbiosis with it.

According to the plans, the solar park with a fleet of 29 power plants will be completed by the end of 2021.
